The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program has kicked off August with its first round of invitations. This program targets skilled workers with specific expertise through strategic recruitment initiatives. This draw reaffirms the commitment of the province in addressing critical labour shortages and attracting top global talent to meet its workforce needs.
MPNP Draw 251 Results
On August 7, 2025, Manitoba conducted Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw 251 under both the skilled worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways. A total of 37 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued to candidates. These were issued for those who demonstrated strong profiles and directly invited by the MPNP through targeted recruitment channels.
To qualify for this round, applicants are needed:
A minimum score of 724 under the points-based assessment system of MPNP
A direct invitation under one of the strategic recruitment initiatives of the province.
The breakdown of invitations under rhe August 7 draw is as follows:
Strategic Recruitment Initiative |
LAAs Issued |
Employer Services |
15 |
Francophone Community |
19 |
Regional Communities |
1 |
Ethnocultural Communities |
2 |
Out of the total 37 LAAs, seven were issued to the candidates having valid Express Entry Profile numbers and job seeker validation codes.
The MPNP clarified that even if a score of the candidate met or exceeded the cut-off, an LAA might not have been issued due to various reasons including:
- Listing an approved languiafe test in the EOI without a valid test number, or having expired test results.
- Claiming a direct invitation through a recruitment initiative without providing a valid invitation number in the EOI.
These initiatives are specialised employer or community-driven programs which enables Manitoba to directly target skilled workers in high-demand occupations. They will help employers fill critical positions and offer candidates a pathway to permanent residence.
Employers should meet eligibility requirements for open positions and follow the ABC Recruitment Process of Manitoba before submittiong candidate details to employer services. Candidates must meet the general MPNP eligibility requirements. This covers language proficiency, education and age, along with specific conditions.
The MPNP reviews the ties of the candidate to Manitoba. If the candidate has stronger links to other provinces for studies of past employment, that may be considered as a retention risk and will result in refusal.
This August draw shows that Manitoba continued to focus on targeted recruitment rather than large general draws. This focuses on candidates who can immediately address the labour needs of the province. For skilled professionals, especially those in employer-driven, francophone and community-linked pathways, this will be a significant opportunity. This can greatly improve their chances of getting Canadian PR.
