Skills of Farm Management:
The Applicant must demonstrate their proficiency in agricultural management. Some of the proof includes:
- Documents of Education, work, and training experience.
- Financial records of an agricultural business that is currently operating.

- Evidence that your wanted farming enterprise may be financed by a Canadian banking institution.

Adequate Financial Resources:
The applicants must have the capability to invest at least CDN $500,000 of equity in Alberta’s primary production farming business. The documents provided by the Applicant should show a minimum net worth of CDN $500,000 or they must confirm their ability to generate a similar sum of money from other sources. The applicants have to show the capacity to make larger than required investments.

Investment in Primary Production:
The Applicant should provide the documentary evidence of their investment plans in the suggested company plan, along with their application to the AAIP. The plan of the suggested business will be examined by the Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation to assure the alignment of farming operations with the requirements of the Alberta Farming industry. The Applications with the best growth opportunities, relevant to Alberta's agri-food targets, will be more prioritised.

How to Apply for Alberta’s Farm Stream?

Reviewing of terms and conditions
Before applying for this stream, the Applicants must go through the complete terms and conditions of AAIP because the Farm stream's accessibility can change based on the needs of the labour market.
Checking of Eligibility
Under this process, the applicants should verify that they meet the eligibility requirements before submission of the application. Completing the minimal requirements does not guarantee permanent residency or nomination.
Completion of the required forms
The Candidates have to submit the AAIP and IRCC form in this stage. Under AAIP, they should apply for Farm Stream and under IRCC, the forms like Generic Application, business nominees, Background Declaration, Additional Family Information forms, etc, must be submitted.
Payment of Application Form
The application fees need to be paid after April 1st, 2024, are CAD $3,500. The fees for the application, which are submitted before 1st April 2024, are CAD $500. These application fees are non-refundable, even in case of application rejection. The fees payment must be made in online mode using a debit or credit card. The payment proof needs to be included in the application.
Submission of Application
In this stage, the applicants should send a complete application along with the payment proof, by registered courier or mail. The application will be rejected if it is submitted by fax or email.
Unqualified Candidates
The applicants with an active nomination under another AAIP stream that is either eligible for an extension or hasn't expired. In a prior AAIP application, the applicant claimed that they would not be allowed to resubmit for a certain amount of time. The Applicants who issued a removal order by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) or Canada Border Services Agency are not eligible. If the Candidate is living or working in Canada without valid temporary resident status, and Candidates who are international students enrolled in Canadian educational institutions, including those completing internships or co-ops as part of their courses of study, are not eligible to apply.
