The Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) continues to be the most popular immigration pathway under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), holding the largest share of nomination allocations and nearly 42,000 Expressions of interest (EOIs) in its selection pool. This makes the AOS a key route for skilled workers seeking provincial nomination in Alberta.
In 2025, the AAIP announced that its Alberta Express Entry Stream would issue invitations based on priority sectors, in addition to its three specialised pathways:
- The dedicated health care pathways
- The Accelerated Tech Pathway
- The Law Enforcement Pathway.
The priority sectors currently targeted under the Alberta Express Entry Stream include construction, agriculture, aviation, and healthcare, highlighting the province’s commitment to addressing urgent labour shortages in these areas. This approach increases the chances for qualified candidates with relevant skills to receive invitations and contribute to Alberta’s workforce needs.
