In Canada PR

Regardless of how much research you’ve done, the Canada PR visa process can be a daunting task as the immigration application process is lengthy, complex, and time-sensitive. When you fill your application on your own, you are always prone to making mistakes like providing incorrect information or submitting a wrong document.

When you do everything on your own, there is a high chance that you will make mistakes and cause refusal of your immigration application. The Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) can put a penalty of five years ban for misrepresentation during the Canada PR visa process.

To avoid unnecessary delays in the processing time of your application, here are the top factors you must consider when submitting your Canadian permanent resident application.

Always sign your application forms

Most applications are refused due to a lack of signatures. For instance, the Additional Family Information Form – three signatures depending on the principal applicant’s spouse or children. Often people miss signing their forms, which leads to unnecessary delays.

Also, there are times when applicants sign where they should not. For instance, a section of the form requires the signature of a translator, and they mistakenly sign in that spot. The immigration officer returns such applications.

Always pay the correct fee

There are more than 45 immigration streams, and each stream requires a different mode of payment. Your payment option will depend on what exactly you are paying for. You can pay the fees online, through a bank draft, or cheque.

For instance, if you wish to pay the Right of Permanent Resident fee, you should opt for an online method. If you pay through any other option, it will be returned to you and cause further delay. Also, check the currency you need to pay your application fees in, along with the correct required amount. Make sure you have chosen the correct payment option before making your payment.

Follow the correct photo instructions

The photos required for your immigration application have to be based on the IRCC’s instructions. They come in specific sizes to fit in forms like medical forms and your visa documents. If you do not send the correct size and format, you will have your application returned.

Your immigration application will require that your photos’ back side bear your name and date of birth along with the name and complete address of the photography studio. You must also include the date on which your photograph was taken.

Provide complete documents

It is crucial to submit all the supporting documents mentioned on the IRCC’s checklist to avoid refusal of your immigration application. Also, sometimes those documents do not suffice to ensure approval of your application.

For instance, if you are a common-law couple, you will need to provide documents from your family attesting to your relationship, confirming that it is exclusive and committed. Also, if you are moving to Canada under sponsorship programs, you will need to provide a letter of support from a family member in Canada.

Do not forget supplemental forms

Residents of various countries are required to provide additional information not included in the immigration application forms. The supplemental forms include Residency Questionnaire and Education and Work Experience Questionnaire.

Before submitting your immigration application forms, make sure to check if you have to submit any supplemental forms. Failure to do so will have your application returned to you.

Make sure to explain missing information

As per the Canadian immigration laws, providing misinformation is a serious offense. If they found that the information provided by you is incorrect and you have been untruthful in your application, your application for permanent residence will get rejected on the spot. You may face a possible exclusion for at least two years or more.

When you have missing information in your application forms, you must explain why the information is missing and if you can provide it upon request. Keep in mind that even innocent errors can be treated as a misrepresentation.

Avoid filling your forms by hand

The permanent resident application forms can be completed using a laptop that has Adobe Reader installed. So, you will need to fill your application forms on a computer. However, some applicants choose to fill their forms by hand, which is not advisable.

Since the hand-written forms are not legible to the visa officer, your application may get returned to you. When you use your computer to complete your application via Adobe Reader, you can create a series of barcodes that enables IRCC to enter your information into its computer systems.

Always provide a cover letter with your application

A cover letter for visa application plays a crucial role in your Canada PR visa process. It allows the immigration officer to have a better understanding of who is applying for what. Also, a cover letter eases the process of reviewing, which results in quick processing.

In short

If you are applying for permanent resident immigration on your own, you will need to pay heed to the above-said tips to ensure you have a hassle-free Canada PR visa process. You will have to be well-researched about the possible mistakes you can make in your application.
