Alberta PNP latest draw prioritises construction workers

Immigration strategies and Invitation numbers are bound to change due to market demands. On 25 July 2025, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program prioritises Construction streams by issuing 39 Invitations to Apply under the Alberta Express Entry Stream. For this, the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score has also been set as 66, which makes it a favourable opportunity for many skilled candidates. The candidates must have an active Express Entry profile, and their occupation must be listed under the Construction category. The candidates with having valid Alberta job offer under a qualifying construction occupation must ensure to get listed under the official page. 

The recent draws conducted in Alberta are to meet the province's labour shortage by filling the industry's seats with immigrants. In early 2025, the Alberta province announced that the Invitations to Apply would be issued through Express Entry pathways and would also concentrate on the sectors like construction, agriculture, aviation and healthcare. Alberta is currently facing a labour shortage in the Construction industry due to infrastructural developments, which include residential and commercial projects. By inviting skilled immigrant workers to fill the sector, the province aims for economic growth with sustainable employment. 

For the year 2025, Alberta plans to issue 405 invitations, and 269 invitations have been issued through the Alberta Express Entry - Priority sector as of now. The remaining 136 invitations are only left to issue till the end of the year. But there is heavy competition among the candidates to acquire a seat. As of 1 August 2025, 4,425 candidates have provided the Expression of Interest for the remaining invitations, who are all waiting in the selection pool. This shows many are willing to work in Alberta and are waiting under the listed occupations in demand. This would also eventually improve the selection chances in the evolving labour market, where the candidates would highlight their skills and work experience to increase their chances of getting selected. 

A total of 4,875 provincial nominations have been allocated by Alberta across all the streams for this year. From this, 3134 have been used, and the remaining 1,741 nominations are present for the rest of the year. As Alberta is the most preferred province for many skilled professionals, they find the permanent pathway to be very straightforward. Candidates get 600 points added to their Express Entry Profile, which increases their chances for them to get invitations for permanent residency from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Alberta selects the candidates to meet the labour demands of the province, which demonstrates their focus on a sustainable and long-term approach. Even the newcomers wish to be a part of Alberta’s skilled workforce. It is advised that future interested candidates apply through Alberta by refining their eligibility and reviewing the list of targeted occupations.
