Residential Requirement For Canadian Citizenship
If an applying candidate found with 3 years of perfect permanent resident track record in the last 4 years then they become eligible to attain the citizenship of Canada. The major concern or the issue faced by any applicant who goes for Canadian citizenship is whether they need to be physically present continuously for 3 years to avail the citizenship.
The federal government of Canada carries out three different types of assessment under the citizenship judge who will apply anyone of three assessment approach to finalize the citizenship of the applicant. All these three approaches would widely vary and it would be difficult for an applicant who doesn’t have the record of staying for a complete period of 3 years in Canada.
The first one will be a “strict physical presence test” where the applicant is expected to reside in any one province of Canada for a complete period of 1095 days in the last 4 years.
The second assessment process is quite different from its previous one where the judge analyzes the settling intent of the applicant in Canada permanently and contribute to the province and nation’s economic development.
This would include assessing their plans post attaining Canadian citizenship, their contribution to the economy, their active participation in the societal events, and their interest towards Canada and the province they reside. This program requires just 79 days of presence to carryout complete assessment.
The third approach is unique in its way where a citizenship judge will use certain parameters to carry out the qualitative analysis of the applicant’s eligibility to attain citizenship.
Is the applicant residing for a long time in the mentioned area or municipal region in any one of the Canadian province from the time of submitting their application for citizenship?
The exact residence of the applicant’s family members and dependents.
Is the applicant frequently visiting their home nation post submitting the documents for Canadian citizenship?
The longevity and reason behind the applicant’s physical absence in the Canadian province.
Is the physical absence of the applicant is temporary or permanent in their exact residing spot post submitting citizenship?
If it is a temporary situation then is it comprises of anyone of the following conditions like
- A professional trip to abroad
- To pursue graduation in any foreign nation
- Temporary employment in a foreign nation
- The accompanying spouse who got employed in a foreign nation
- How well the applicant is bonded with Canada
