Lying in the eastern part of Canada, NFL can be found in between 46th and 61st island and also below 50th island of Canada. A part of this province is located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and a large portion of Labrador lies in the eastern part of the Canadian mainland.
The total area of NFL is 4,05,720 km² where Newfoundland covers 1,11,390 km² and Labrador covers 2,94,330 km² respectively. NFL is found to be the largest province of Canada as its total area is larger than the combination of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. It covers 1/3rd area of Great Britain and will be ranked the largest province after Texas, Alaska, and California in the United States.
Holding a population of 5,29,073 which has St. Johns as its capital city with a population of 1,08,860 in it. Some of the major cities in of NFL are Torbay, Flatrock, Pouch Cove, Bauline, Mount Pearl, and Paradise.
Eligibility Criteria For Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program
- The application submitted by the concerned candidate must get approved by the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) Express Entry board with the valid and authenticated Express Entry key code.
- The applicant must hold a full-time job offer provided by an authenticated employer who belongs to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the offered job must not be a part-time or contractual basis.
- The candidate must have acquired a valid work permit to enter into the province.
- The candidate must have got the approval certificate of ECA (Educational Credential Assessment) from the IRCC board.
- The ECA certification will involve the verification by the provincial immigration board on the standards of education acquired which is equal to the Canadian Standards.
- The applicant must have cleared the language proficiency test according to their custom-made criteria and support the recent mark sheet to the provincial board for immigration.
- Must submit “proof of funds” on moving and settling in Canada (NLP) either as an individual or as a family.
- Priority will be given to candidates who are willing to acquire permanent residence and settle in Canada.
