The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has issued ITAs as a significant move to address labour shortages and support economic growth. AAIP issued 295 Invitations to Apply across six separate draws held between April 29 and May 8, 2025.
This latest series of draws reflects Alberta’s continued focus on healthcare staffing, priority sectors, and rural workforce development. This will align with both the community needs and provincial economic priorities.
Multiple Streams Targeted in Strategic Draws
This draw encloses a range of pathways under the AAIP. These include:
- Rural Renewal Stream
- Alberta Express Entry Stream for priority sectors.
- Dedicated Health Care Pathway, which is both Express Entry and non-Express Entry aligned.
The lowest cut-off score among these draws was 51, specifically in the aviation sector. This indicates opportunities even for candidates with moderate CRS scores. A detailed breakdown of the draws is given below.

Healthcare & Rural Needs Take Centre Stage
Alberta dedicated two draws to its Dedicated Health Care Pathway, inviting 71 candidates in total. The dual focus on Express Entry and non-Express Entry pathways demonstrates the flexible approach of the province. This is to solve the chronic labour shortages in hospitals and health care facilities.
The Rural Renewal Stream continues to be an important component of the immigration strategy of Alberta. The draw, which was held on May 5, invited 165 candidates. This marked it as the second-highest invitation count in a single draw for 2025, only behind the first rural-focused draw of the year which had issued 190 ITAS.
2025 Nomination Trends and Allocations
Alberta’s nomination allocation for this year from the federal government was reduced to 4,875. This was a sharp decline of 50%, from 9,750 nominations in 2024. This has led to more selective draws and a greater competition among candidates. The current AAIP nomination status as of 2025 is given below.

What This Means for Applicants
For prospective immigrants who consider Alberta, this will be the time to assess eligibility under the enhanced PNP stream. This is particularly if working in high-demand sectors such as aviation, agriculture, healthcare and construction.
The evolving trends show that Alberta will continue to prioritize candidates who can immediately contribute to its economic and demographic needs. Rural communities and essential industries are at the forefront of this push. This provides a golden opportunity for skilled workers and professionals looking for Permanent Residency in Canada.
